The primary responsibility of the Industrial Engineer is to support DC & FC Operations and Engineering in the execution of our business through TRU’s Labor Management Systems, continuous process improvement and leadership in project management to maximize our total performance and operating capability of each functional group in the DCs and FCs. Focus on LEAN methodology is preferred.
Identify and establish best practices across the distribution and fulfillment networks in partnership with DC/FC leadership, and corporate engineering personnel. While driving the best practices on the floor in their DC/FC, by working with operators through understanding, coaching, training and management.
Identify and implement methods, process, layout, and product flow improvements using sound LEAN principles and tools such as Kaizen events.
Provide analytical and project management support to operations and engineering management, to include both local projects and corporate initiatives, and expense budgeting and performance analysis.
Assist in capital budgeting process, provide ROI analysis and prepare capital expense requests, and manage or assist with relevant capital projects.
Manage and maintain the labor management system, to include establishing and maintaining engineered standards and documentation, training and follow-up with managers and associates.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or comparable program.
1-2 years relevant IE experience or comparable internship/co-op experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in the use and maintenance of Labor Management Systems
Proficiency in Time Motion Studies and Pre-determined Time Systems
Certification in LEAN Six Sigma or equivalent experience.
Access, Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Power Point, and Outlook.
Specific technical training (i.e., CPA, Engineer, etc.): Industrial Engineering or comparable education. LEAN Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience.
WMS and/or LMS experience is preferred.
