The GRC Market Investigator is responsible for the investigation and resolution of theft and fraud with an emphasis on e-commerce fraud and online fencing of Toys R Us merchandise. The GRC Market Investigator works with field asset protection teams and law enforcement officials to arrest and prosecute individuals or groups who steal from Toys R Us. The successful candidate must be aware of federal, state, and local laws and how they apply to investigative activities as well as evidentiary requirements to ensure investigative activities result in successful case resolution/prosecution. The GRC Market Investigator reports directly to the GRC Manager of Investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Supports all aspects of theft investigations, with an emphasis on Organized Retail Crime, e-commerce crime, and online fencing of Toys R Us merchandise
  • Use available reporting, trend analysis, refund analysis, and theft reporting to initiate and investigate theft activity
  • Collect and compile evidence related to ongoing investigations, including CCTV, witness statements, defeated merchandise protection, burglary tools and equipment.
  • Work directly with law enforcement agencies to coordinate investigation, resolution and arrest/prosecution of subjects identified through investigative process
  • Responsible for accurate, timely, and complete case documentation within Toys R Us APIS case management system
  • Participate in strategic deployments for investigating high profile/large impact investigations within or outside normal market area
  • Work in partnership with Regional Asset Protection Managers and the National Investigation Center Analyst team, and store teams to support theft investigation, resolution and deterrence
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with local law enforcement agencies and cross-retail asset protection partners in an effort to increase intelligence gathering and sharing, and increase resolution of theft investigations
  • Support investigation, collection of evidence, and case documentation of internal investigations
  • Participates in local law enforcement/retail associations and organizations as appropriate

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred
  • 2-3 years of retail Asset Protection/Loss Prevention or Criminal Justice experience preferred
  • Organized Retail Crime experience preferred
  • Depending upon state requirements – Guard/Security certification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical interviewing experience preferred
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Applications including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Extensive knowledge of CCTV/DVR equipment and systems
  • Strong ability to quickly and seamlessly adapt to shifting priorities
