Job Description

Benefits department of a national specialty retailer located in Northern New Jersey is seeking a Manager – Benefits Operations. Under direction of the Director of Benefits, this position will have responsibility for managing vendor data, system integrity and functionality, process improvement and policy management. Additionally, this position supervises two LOA analysts who administer the Company Salary Continuation programs, Long-Term Disability and paid time off policies.


  • Ensure system functionality between HRIS, benefit vendors and payroll

  • Lead system implementation of new vendors and benefit offerings

  • Actively participate in annual enrollment

  • Enhance existing processes and proactively seek areas for improvement

  • Streamline policy documentation

  • Managing ACA system requirements and reporting

  • Stays current on applicable laws/state leave programs (i.e. FMLA, CFRA, CAPDL, CAPFL, NJFLI, NJTDB, NYDBL) and local PTO changes

  • High-level understanding of health & welfare plans and 401k

  • Assist in team member benefit issue resolution


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Three to five years working in a benefits department with Workday and ADP Payroll and Benefits systems (or comparable) experience

  • Experience with ACA reporting requirements

  • Superior oral and written communications skills and ability to work with and respond to inquiries

  • Working knowledge of LOA administration systems

  • High level of maturity and ability to deal in confidence with sensitive proprietary and personal information

  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Windows Office tools, specifically Excel
