Job Description

The Global "R" Us Brands Team is responsible for developing Private Brand merchandise for the Toy, Apparel and Juvenile segments that are grouped into a number of globally recognized brands, as well as marketing that merchandise to our stores around the world. We are seeking a passionate and highly driven team player who is a strategic thinker and well organized. He/She must have a passion for our customers, brands and products and embody an entrepreneurial spirit. The Product Manager will play a critical role in developing and driving long term growth across the creations, wooden toys, and train categories. H/she must possess a knowledge of our global customer profile and analytically evaluate the price/value relationship. The Product Manager will continue to transform the way we bring our products to market to serve our passionate & value conscious customer.

Product Design:

  • Produce product designs that meet necessary engineering specifications as well as merchant expectations. Establish and ensure design standards to better maximize the team’s output.

  • Deliver best-in-class product designs by directing a team of designers who are responsible for conceiving global products that support the brand’s strategic initiatives.

  • Manage the global product development process from concept to final production

  • Partner with engineering, design, and other key stakeholders across the organization to provide products that scale our business, bring joy to our customers, and innovate the way toys are played with.

  • Provide detailed art files and/or refined product specifications to engineering team.

Product Management:

  • Partner with Brand Management team to build product objectives around innovation, diversity in assortment, and financial targets.

  • Responsible for delivering designs with competitive feature sets that meet financial targets.

  • Coach technical skills to graphic designers to while meeting project milestones.

  • Infuse newness and diversity into product mix through continuous competitive trend analysis.

  • Create and communicate specifications through creative thinking to infuse newness and diversity into product mix. Construct product requirements that result in exclusive designs, great features/play value at a competitive price.

  • Sample evaluation inclusive of technical trouble shooting & problem solving on prototype and mass production.

  • Join forces with Product Engineering & Quality Assurance to guarantee items and packaging meet Toys R Us requirements and standards.

  • Manage any necessary external resources to guarantee design deliverables are achieved on time.

  • Present and deliver product features and benefits that will WOW our Customer

Strategy / Leadership / Talent Enhancement

  • Continuously explore opportunities to learn and grow throughout the Toys R Us organization.

  • Relentlessly form meaningful relationships with all internal and external partners.

  • Participate in the mid-range and long-term business plan development process and communicate to the department regarding issues.

  • Play a key leadership role in critical projects aimed at continuously improving and driving the Private Brand business processes to achieve flawless execution and growth across global markets.

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the retail industry, global trends, and continually monitor the competition Seek out additional responsibilities and opportunities to improve the Global R Us Brands team.

  • Maintain and build cross functional relationships by adapting design and communication skills across all markets

  • Demonstrate exceptional follow through on all global product development projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • 2-3 years experience in Product Development or Product Design position

  • Experience in product and specification development

  • Creative abilities: ability to envision new products from concept ideation through manufacturing process

  • Understand of sourcing and cost optimization processes

  • Strong oral, written, analytical, organizational and presentation skills – must have intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Power Point

  • Demonstrate ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing, limited resource environment

  • Strong project management skills

  • Must be both a strategic and creative thinker with strong communication skills

  • Self-motivator with a positive attitude that is comfortable working independently or in a team

  • Must be highly adaptable and willing to learn multiple new systems
