The Content Lead, Corporate Communications develops strategies to elevate Toys“R”Us, Inc.’s corporate profile, advance the company’s business objectives and demonstrate the company’s position as an industry leader, as well as builds confidence in the vitality of the business internally and externally. This role reports to the Director of Corporate Communications and works closely with the Executive Vice President, Global Communications and Public Relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategy to engage and inform team members across a range of communications platforms, including web, mobile, email, social media, newsletters, internal television network, events, intranet and more – both domestically and globally. Conceptualize, create, write and produce original content that tells the corporate story, celebrates achievements and positions the company as a great place to work.

  • Oversee content deliverables, timelines and processes, collaborating with larger Corporate Communications team to review press materials, pitch ideas, messaging, photography, video, graphics and other materials to deliver effective editorial and visual content.

  • Manage relationships with content vendors. Partner with internal and external content team members as well as network of freelance writers, photographers, videographers, illustrators and graphic designers, as needed. Be in charge of providing technical guidelines and use metrics and behavioral analysis to measure effectiveness of communications.

  • Write and edit content – articles, video scripts, storyboards, infographics – on a daily basis. Serve as project leader to manage and guide content programs from start to finish, determining objectives and approaches to assignments, updating other departments on status, as required, and coaching/directing junior staff on technical issues.

  • Oversee and post content on the company’s internal website, corporate web site and social media channels. Troubleshoot, as needed.

  • Keep the team informed of new and innovative structures, systems and processes that would help the team continue to produce high-quality, industry-leading content. Monitor media and web coverage of the company, competitors and industry.

Qualifications and Experience:

Corporate communications background in a corporate or agency setting with experience in a newsroom setting and/or in digital media/content management environment – assigning, editing, producing and writing both news and magazine-style content for the multiple communications channels.

  • Minimum 6-8 years PR, Communications or Customer Service experience with at least 3 focused in Social Media. Degree in Communications, PR or Journalism preferred but not required with relevant work experience

  • Proficient with both Mac and PC; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Sharepoint .

  • Competent with HTML and content management systems, SEO best practices and other digital media tools and standards

  • Video production, including video editing capabilities, i.e. Final Cut Pro

  • Proficient with WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and other design tools

  • Clear understanding of social media networks, posting strategies, building networks and engaging audiences

  • Knowledge of disciplines related to communications and knows how to offer/apply technical expertise accordingly
