Job Description

This function will report to the Manager, Risk Management and assist with all aspects of reporting, analysis and budgeting for the Risk Management Department. Additionally, this function will be the primary liaison with claims management software and will be responsible for troubleshooting day to day issues. This function will also be responsible for the reporting and oversight of property, Cargo & Auto claims managed by our carrier.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage monthly reports for Workers Comp and General Liability Chargeback program, prepare journal entry and submit to accounting.

  • Compile data and complete the monthly account reconciliation from financial reports and other various ad hoc reports.

  • Manage property claims handled by our carrier that run through our captive program and handle any subrogation on property damage within the deductible.

  • Oversight of Cargo and Auto claims handled by our carrier and 3rd party transportation vendor, including subrogation.

  • Preparation of reports, gathering of data for yearly actuarial analysis, prepare data for yearly budget preparation, assisting with year-end analysis, as well as gathering of data for insurance renewals.

  • Provides support to Manager on Insurance renewals, reporting and other tasks as necessary.

  • System Administrator for the Claims Management system.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent.

  • 1-3 years experience working with brokers, carriers or self-insureds is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; able to express complex ideas in simple terms; well-developed interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple assignments and projects with varying deadlines. Ability to plan and manage own time effectively and to direct/re-direct efforts to ensure quality results.

  • Team player with a high energy, positive outlook and professional demeanor who takes initiative.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including ability to research and synthesize facts to understand problems, identify root causes, and bring to resolution.

  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
