The Transportation Analyst is responsible for supporting the daily activities of the Domestic and Import operational teams. The Analyst will be operating in a fast paced setting that primarily includes EDI, freight rates, and exception management; problem resolution and analysis, and reporting. They will engage with the domestic and international 3PLs, ensuring adherence to ETA management, cube utilization, and cost management/reduction. The analyst will liaise with ocean carriers, drayman, domestic truckload/intermodal providers, as well as internal functional groups to ensure on-time delivery of domestic and international shipments.
The Analyst will work with the 3PLs to create/design and action reports to ensure transportation performance and related expenses are in line with budget/contractual plan. Develop cost reduction recommendations based on product flow and the Toys R Us network setup. Manage the execution of multi-round carrier bids. The Analyst will also be expected to build business relationships with external transportation providers.
Liaise between Toys R Us internal stakeholders, carriers freight audit/pay company, and 3PL
Review/action reports to ensure optimized execution of transportation plan by 3PL
Partner with 3PL to design/create new reporting to improve supply chain visibility/performance
Make recommendations to reduce expenses and improve utilization
Various ad-hoc analysis
Review and process invoices ad-hoc
Lead and/or assist in the execution of 6 transportation bids
Create / maintain project task list complete with timelines, owner, and track % complete during project
Streamline data collection and formatting process for bid site input, bid template design, and reporting
Master optimization software; create scenarios (Baseline, unconstrained, incumbent only, enforced commitments) as well as any ad hoc scenarios requested by project leaders
Consolidate carrier information for qualification phase of RFP
Assist with development of business requirements document
Contract and COI Management
Manage and maintain contract amendment process - Secure officer signatures and file contracts (paper and electronic)
Manage and maintain Certificate of Insurance records
Manage carrier rate sheets with 3rd party providers and freight payment company
Operational support of Inbound Transportation Operations
Ad-hoc rate negotiations as required
Secure additional capacity as required
Carrier Performance Management
Review and discuss performance of carriers via transportation scorecard
Ensure carrier performance is to the expected levels and implement corrective action plan if necessary
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, or Finance (preferred).
Experience in similar operations analytical position and or Transportation Area (required)
Solid analytical and math skills, communication skills (verbal and written), computer skills
Microsoft applications- Advanced user skills - Excel, Access, Power Point, Word, TMS background, RFP optimization software experience (preferred)
Interpersonal skills, problem-solving resolution, able to work independently with minimum supervision.
